The inaugural Pan American Esports Championships, established by the Global Esports Federation and Panam Sports runs in parallel with Santiago 2023 Pan American Games

 

The GEF Marquee event features globally renowned multi-genre esports titles and athletes from 41 nations across the Americas. The event is enhanced by the GEFestival – a celebratory showcase of the diverse esports culture — and the flagship GEFcon that convenes global thought leaders, stakeholders, and idea creators from esports and adjacent industries to share ideas and opportunities for the future of esports.

Open to the public within the common domain of the Parque Estadio Nacional

Welcome to the GEFestival—a vibrant and exhilarating highlight of the Pan American Esports Championships, held from October 21 to October 31. The festival became a gateway to an electrifying celebration of esports and beyond, embracing music, art, technology, fashion, and a wide array of captivating experiences.

At the heart of GEFestival, the fun knew no bounds. The Free Play Zone immersed gaming enthusiasts in a world of endless excitement, while dance aficionados lit up the stage with Just Dance. Fans with a need for speed put their racing skills to the test at the thrilling SIM Racing setup, while others stepped into the Retro Arcade to relive the glory days of classic gaming.

Attendees also experienced the latest in virtual reality with Racket:Next, taking on virtual squash and racquet challenges. As a memento of the occasion, many visited the Pan American Esports Championships Official Store, which featured an exclusive range of merchandise.

The excitement extended further through a week-long showcase of gaming activities hosted by esteemed partner, PC Factory.

Throughout the GEFestival, the stage came alive with an unending spectacle. From Arcade competitions and Just Dance showdowns to Anisinger performances, intense SIM Racing contests, mesmerizing Cosplay displays, live interviews with gaming legends, watch parties, and high-energy musical acts—the atmosphere remained electric from start to finish.

More than just an event, the GEFestival at the Pan American Esports Championships became a dynamic celebration of inclusive esports culture—bringing people together in a world where entertainment truly knew no boundaries.

DOTA 2 is a 5v5 MOBA owned by Valve. A multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) is a subgenre of strategy video games in which two teams of players compete against each other on a predefined battlefield. Each player controls a single character with a set of distinctive abilities that improve over the course of a game and which contribute to the team's overall strategy. The ultimate objective is for each team to destroy their opponent's main structure, located at the opposite corner of the battlefield.

Fit for Life Day

At the Pan American Esports Championships in Santiago, the Global Esports Federation unveiled its ‘Fit for Life Day’ campaign—marking a significant milestone in its support of UNESCO’s global ‘Fit for Life’ initiative.

 

The campaign video, revealed during the event, brought to life GEF’s commitment to addressing modern challenges such as physical inactivity, mental health, and societal inequality—while championing inclusivity, resilience, and community through esports and active lifestyles.

Supported by UNESCO, Fit for Life Day is guided by five key objectives, with a strong emphasis on grassroots participation in esports and the promotion of quality physical education. The initiative highlights the powerful role that esports and movement can play in encouraging healthier, more connected communities.

The unveiling in Santiago set the stage for a global call to action—inviting individuals and communities to take part in the movement. Through shared stories and collective engagement, Fit for Life Day continues to spotlight the transformative impact of esports and physical activity in driving equality, empowerment, and inclusion.

About the Venue

Estadio Nacional will be the heart of the Pan American and Parapan American games. Apart from the traditional coliseum that will host athletics, there will be another 11 venues, new and renovated, that will be one of the biggest legacies of Santiago 2023, including the arena for the Pan American Esports Championships 2023.  Estadio Nacional is located in the Ñuñoa area, about 5 kilometers southeast of Santiago de Chile’s historic center (Centro).
