Istanbul 2022 Global Esports Games was the second edition of the Global Esports Federation’s flagship multi-title competition, uniting over 300 athletes from 65 nations and territories. Held from 15–17 December 2022 in the historic city of Istanbul, the event featured world-class competition across DOTA 2, eFootball™ 2023, PUBG MOBILE and Street Fighter V: Champion Edition.

Alongside the competition, #GEG22 hosted GEFcon, GEF’s global thought-leadership forum, bringing together international speakers to explore the future of esports, technology and culture. The event also convened the GEF General Assembly and launched the Global Esports Academy, reinforcing GEF’s commitment to development, education and global collaboration.

About the Titles

Held alongside the Istanbul 2022 Global Esports Games, GEFcon brought together leading voices from esports, sport, technology, entertainment, business, academia, and government for a global forum on the future of esports. Taking place on 15 December at the Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel & Conference Center, the event convened international thought leaders, industry experts and policymakers to exchange ideas and explore the expanding opportunities within the global esports ecosystem.

 

The programme featured keynote addresses and panel discussions on the evolving esports landscape, Türkiye’s role in the regional and global ecosystem, and the growing opportunities for youth and the creative economy in a hyperconnected world. Hosted by renowned media personalities and thought leaders, GEFcon Istanbul 2022 provided a platform for dialogue, collaboration and innovation across the global esports community.
